I was thinking about how even though I no longer have a place, a physical location where I grew up, my roots are still there. In this piece, I imagined a neighborhood where each house has roots that have grown deep into the ground and in the spot where a house used to be, the roots have grown into a tree. I used collected papers, book pages, and images from a "Today's Woman" magazine from the 1950's in the background and painted over that with acrylic paint. The final image is 14"x18" with collage and acrylic on board. The board has slots in the back for hanging without a frame.
